Job Description:

Qiajuk Studios & Production is looking for a dance educator / dance artist to teach classes for children and youth in ballet, contemporary, musical dance, and urbans styles. 

Qiajuk seeks to employ a dance artist / educatior that together with our other dance professionals, helps in the development of programmes and curriculums for dance classes, workshops, theatrical performances and productions.

This is a unique opportunity for a dance artist to work and be part of a vibrant young dance community, by staying in Greenland for a longer period of time. It will support giving young dancers the chance to have dialogues and interaction with a professsional dancer and performing artist.

Company description:
Qiajuk Studios is Greenland’s only dance studio located in the capital Nuuk. A young, developing dance community with 4 staff teachers, who teach 26 classes every week to over 200 students each season. Qiajuk together with guest artists, creates opportunity for children and youth in Greenland to experience and explore dance, including mask dance, ballet, modern dance, contemporary, musical dance/ theatre, urban styles and vertical dance.

Qiajuk Studios’ focus is on teaching dance for children and youth in Greenland and facilitating different community outreach performance events for our students. Our teachers facilitate artistic and academic mentoring, and they themselves have the possibility of showcasing own works along with the possibility of working with local artists.

Language policy:

The official language of Greenland is Greenlandic. Qiajuk Studios’ information and korrespondance with the administration is conducted in Greenlandic and Danish. Qiajuk strives to make dance accessable to all children and youth in Greenland. Classes for 5 -7 year olds are conducted in Greenlandic, for 8 years and older in Greenlandic and/or Danish, and for Qiajuk Studios’ performance group comprised of young dance artists between 12 – 22 years of age, in Greenlandic, English or Scandinavian depending on the teachers.

Areas of work:

Season One runs from September through December and Season Two from February through May. Each year Qiajuk Studios is host to a dance show QITIK for all children and youth that have danced with Qiajuk Studios in Nuuk during the spring season. 

The right candidate will be: 

·       Teaching children and youth at Qiajuk Studios

·       Development programmes and curriculums for community dance classes and workshops

·       Working on and developing community dance and performance projects for Qiajuk Studios & Productions

o   Teaching, working with, and mentoring students and cultural actors

o   Guidance of children and youth that are interested in dancing

·       Cooperation with Qiajuk’s administratior and dance teachers

o   Working closely with Qiajuk’s administrator on planning and carrying out Qiajuk Studios’ yearly dance show QITIK

o   Working closely with Qiajuk’s administrator on planning and carrying out the planning of dance and performance shows and projects 

o   Working closely with Qiajuk’s administrator and dance teachers on Qiajuk’s yearly review of best practices


Work description:

Qiajuk’s teachers are dance professionals who wish to make a difference and create spaces for our children and youth to experience dance. Together with the other professional dance artist the right candidate will be  creating dance experiences at different events.

Qiajuk Studios works actively to be an inclusive community and collaborates with schools, institutions and the municipalities in Greenland to offer dance classes to children in Greenland. 

Qiajuk Studios and Productions has a dynamic collaboration with other cultural institutions, including Katuaq Cultural Centre and The National Theatre/ Theatre School of Greenland. 

Qiajuk works together with Greenland’s Sports Federation (GIF) to actively ensure that children and youth in Greenland have dance as a possibility for physical training. 


  • Professional educated dancer and/or dance performing artist with versatile training background
  • Together with our teaching team you will have the responsibility for teaching ballet, contemporary, musical dance and urban styles classes to children and youth ages 6-25, at the beginner/intermediate level

·       You have the ability to facilitate community outreach performance events for young dancers

  • You have IT experience and the ability to create and update content on webpage and social media 
  • You are able to navigate flexible working hours and a willingness to substitute teach
  • You have a knowledge of dance anatomy and pedagogy
  • You have a language proficiency in several of the schools languages which are Greenlandic Danish and English 

Salary og terms:
The right candidate with receive salary in accordance with the applicable contractual agreement between the Government of Greenland and PIP[1]’s Salary grade level 22. Working time is 30 hours pr. week. 

The candidate will have the right to travel expenses, to and from Greenland. Qiajuk Studios & Production pays for freight /gods to Greenland in connection with employment. After a full year’s employment Qiajuk Studios & Production will pay moving expenses up to 3500dkk.
