Role: Welder
Location: Qaqortoq, Greenland

Position requires knowledge and experience working on heavy equipment on remote and fast paced work sites.

The successful candidates will work in the field and be responsible to support the Company’s safety, quality and environmental programs, in the execution of the work. 

Duties include:

  • Perform various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and stick welding to repair, fabricate, and maintain heavy equipment used in construction operations;
  • Collaborate closely with the maintenance and repair teams to identify equipment issues and carry out necessary welding repairs in a timely manner;
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of welded joints, adhering to industry standards and safety regulations;
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, and handle welding equipment and materials safely and responsibly;
  • Assist in routine maintenance and inspections of equipment, reporting any issues to supervisors;
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures, promoting a culture of safety within the team;
  • Possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team environment

    The Ideal Applicant for this position will possess the following:

    Required Education and Experience

  • Must be familiar with working in a heavy civil/mining environment
  • 5+ years maintaining equipment in production environments
  • Perform various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and stick welding to repair, fabricate, and maintain heavy equipment used in construction operations.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to accurately execute welding tasks.
  • Collaborate closely with the maintenance and repair teams to identify equipment issues and carry out necessary welding repairs in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of welded joints, adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, and handle welding equipment and materials safely and responsibly.
  • Assist in routine maintenance and inspections of equipment, reporting any issues to supervisors.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures, promoting a culture of safety within the team.

 

 

Safety Requirements

  • First Aid training would be an asset
  • Fall protection would be an asset

Work Schedule and Conditions

  • Remote Work in Northern Climates
  • Working outside
  • Local accommodations provided, with camp construction pending
  • This position will be required to be on an extended work schedule, with longer hours and weekend work necessary to progress the project in a short construction season
